About Shri Mallikarjun Temple, Shristhal

One of Goa's oldest temples (mid-16th century, renovated 1778), dedicated to Mallikarjun, Shiva as the hunter who saved Arjuna. Set in a green valley ~8 km from Palolem, with carved wooden pillars telling Puranic stories and around 60 deities around the complex.

Why visit: living Goan temple culture, minutes from the beach strip yet a world away — carved wooden pillars telling Puranic stories in a green valley.
